teaching...
If you are wondering why I have not written about my life as a teacher, it is intentional. I am no good at lying so if you ask me about it, I'll tell you I feel like I am a terrible teacher and I have no idea why I chose this career path. I realize I have lived a simple life, but this is the most difficult thing I have ever done. ha. I cry nearly every day. BUT, it is getting better and I learn to laugh and appreciate these kids and this opportunity more all the time. So, there is the update in case you are curious. Special thanks to poor Taylor for putting up with the tears and venting every night.

I think you're amazing for being a teacher! you probably dont know the impact you're having on your students! :) ps. we all need to get together... asap! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Abby! I can relate. I did the same thing when I started teaching in Iowa. I got thrown in some class, nobody told me one of my kids was autistic and I had no help. My first day he stood up and starting ripping things off the walls and boot kicking all the other kids :). It gets better. Just remember that much. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteBeing a teacher sounds like the hardest job...you always have to be on your A game and performing in front of a class. I think you are amazing for doing it, and I'm so glad that your mom is there to help sometimes. Thanks for all the blog updates!
ReplyDeleteAbbey- Jessica told me about this post so I had to blog stalk you! Did you know that first year teachers can get a sub to cover their class so they can go visit other teachers' classrooms? You need to come to my school. Not my class - I'm not that good, but we have an awesome first grade team. I would have you spend a couple hours in each room. You are doing more right than you think. I remember the first year well... I "started over" in December cause I didn't like the way things were going. You can do it. I know you well enough to know that you are working hard. It will come!! seriously. Call me.
