I'll keep you posted.
Today was a great day for many reasons. On top of the acceptance, we did some activities with this incredible book today. Have you read it?
If not, you really need to! It's all about a communities of "Who's" who live on a tiny speck and only Horton the elephant can hear them speak. He sacrifices to protect the speck and even gets persecuted for it. In the end, the Who's work together to get their voices heard and the other animals also protect them when they realize they are people too. I think it's one of Mr. Seuss' best. It has so many great lessons to be learned which is great because we have been focusing on Main Idea and Author's Purpose lately. I decided at the last minute to make these "specks" for each of my kids. Luckily a sweet mom had brought me a bag of random craft supplies stuff and my mom had left a hot glue gun @ my school from some other project we did months ago. I pulled it down and let the kids choose their colors. I asked them what this speck would remind them of and what they learned from the story. They came up with some really great stuff like, "Be nice to everyone no matter how big or short, or fat, and stuff." They mentioned sticking up for kids when they are being made fun of, liking everyone, and EVERYONE matters! It solidified my love for this book!
Anywho, another great day. Lucky me!
