college football.

I really love it. Well, mostly I love the Cougars. BUT, today I got to watch my new team, and tried hard to fall in love with them. They kicked butt, so that was good, but I was missing P-town and my navy t-shirt badly. HOWEVER, going to the Hawkeye game was really great, but really W.E.T.

We met up with Taylor's brother and wife (Ethan and Liz) @ our house and then drove to the mall to park our car. Then we hopped on this convenient cutie for $10.

The weather was beautiful at this point, nice and cool. We wandered around and checked out the tailgating (did you hear UofIowa was named a top 5 party school?). I was struggling with the walking so we found our seats and THEN the rain came. It poured and poured for like an hour and half. I was drenched down to the skin e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e. I just kept looking at Taylor and laughing cause the whole scene was hilarious. Luckily my new team played incredibly well and the crowd was amazing. I understand the definition of a "fair weather fan," because that's what I am. I was ready to leave before the game even started. But the Iowa fans were AMAZING, I was shocked to see the stands didn't empty at all.

Then right before half time it stopped raining! I went into the bathroom, removed my skirt, rung it out for 5 minutes, and replaced it feeling much better. But don't worry, the lovely fall weather only lasted 30 minutes and then the down pour began again. By this point my new team was up 27-0 so we pulled the plug. A nice long walk back to our train, an 8 minute ride, and we arrived nice and squishy at the car.

It was memorable, to say the least

Home we came to a hot shower and dry clothes. I baked cookies and rushed to our cable owning friends house to watch the Cougars. It was touch and go there for a minute but they pulled of an amazing game with plenty of stressful moments. Melissa and I were ready to leave the room we were so worried. We were so happy when the game finally ended @ 14-13.

So here's the deal, I am liking the new team, especially their colors. The black and gold looks ridiculously good on the field. I think they are going to show me a great season. But, I'll always be a cougar at heart. Here's to college football and the fun things it brings: friends, food, fall, and fun. Cheers.... and go cougars!
