bread bowls & some... projects.

My family gets together every Halloween for bread bowls and soup. This year I sadly missed the party but was there via Facebook video chat. Yes, they called me and then set up the lap top so I could watch the carving festivities take place, along with the costume parade performed by all of my nieces and nephews. Sad I wasn't there, hilarious that I watched it on the computer.

SO! I woke up this morning and realized Taylor and I were in no way celebrating the holiday. After calling around to grocery stores and bakeries, I found us a couple of BREAD BOWLS! I was so excited. So, I made my moms potato cheese soup and picked up the bread bowls. We had a delicious dinner and my house even smelled like my moms does on Halloween. Hooray. I love traditions.

On another note, here are my latest projects. I heart them. The first one I had in my head for a while.

My dad always tells me I am a "complicator," so this word has always stuck out to me as a goal for my lifestyle. The banner fad I am simply in love with so I finally made my own. So fun.

My friend Melissa figured out this great way to stencil words onto wood. You just print it REALLY big, tape it onto the wood, and trace it with a pen, pushing kind of hard. Then when you remove the paper, you can see the lines and fill in with paint. Awesome. It hangs in my kitchen :)

And this guy I drew up for Taylor on a napkin many weeks ago. We got our 2nd couch, this cute little love seat, and the wall behind it was VERY blank. This is even better than what was in my head. Taylor spent an entire Saturday cutting, routing, priming, and painting both of these boards for me. He is the best. I thrifted all the frames for .99 each and then spray painted them. Love it.

Funny side note: Taylor thinks we have "too many" pictures of the 2 of us in our house. So, he decided he wanted the pictures in the frames to be of us individually. Hence, you got one of me in India, and one of him climbing a mountain. Awesome. Unfortunately the flash is hiding his cute mountain man photo. He is opinionated about the funniest things.
