st. patricks day stuff....

So I introduced St. Patrick's Day today. We made rainbows with ripped pieces of construction paper. Random. We talked about what makes us feel lucky. So fun. The things 6-7 year olds appreciate always makes me smile. One kid said, "When I get cuddles from my mom." How sweet. I really have the most well behaved class. They are so helpful and sweet with each other. Today I had this moment where I realized just how comfortable I am with my class and how comfortable they are with me as well as with each other. It is just a great atmosphere. I had a lengthy conversation with a fellow teacher over paper cutters and copy machines. We discussed whey we are lucky to be teachers and what a great job it is. I love that it's something different every day and it's something meaningful every day. I love my kids and they love me. Most of the time.

I have been thinking of dorky ideas about a gift for my kiddo's next week and here's what I came up with. Thanks to my baby sis who sat on the floor with me and put all of these together, I am done with my St. Patrick's Day "gift" a week early. Hooray.

Kelsey (aka baby sis) just "declared" her major as Early Childhood Education. Twinners. I feel bad that she saw me struggle and cry through the first few months. Not a great example. But I hope I have changed her opinion of being a teacher in the last few months. I know she will be an incredible educator someday. You should check her out here. She is funny. I love her.

Also I have some WONDERFUL parents who come in to help me out regularly. This was a fun opportunity to thank them for their time and sacrifice to help me. Just a fun idea.

  2. Seriously! You are adorable. They are honestly the luckiest kids to have you as their teacher. So much thought, preparation, and organization.

    Miss you!

  3. Thanks Abbey-you just gave me a great idea of something to make with my grandkids this weekend when I am tending them. Love that rainbow idea and the treat thing, too. I'm just sure you are the best teacher ever! Your wedding picture is so gorgeous, also.
