a bit premature.

Is it too early to start thinking about Thanksgiving? I think not. Taylor and I had a discussion about how we can really focus our Thanksgiving time on gratitude. I came up with this idea (not like it's super novel) and since I didn't work today, I made my little craft. It's really not THAT premature since you have to have your "thankful jar" made my November 1st. So, I'm not THAT crazy. Anyway, here's how it works:

make a thankful jar (I used a bunch of vases I thrifted...)

use the strips of paper to write something you are thankful for every day of the month starting on November 1st (each member of the family does their own).

I made this little note to go along with mine because I am giving some away.

add them to the jar!

Then on Thanksgiving (or for the nearest FHE etc.) pull each paper out and read it out loud. We are hoping it will be a fun time to celebrate and appreciate our blessings as a family and make sure to focus the month on gratitude. I love the quote I used by Joseph B. Wirthlin about how thankful people are happy people, who make other people happy. Who doesn't want that?

Disclaimer: I really don't think these ideas are super great or unique or anything. I simply understand that I GET a ton from "blogland" and that maybe I can GIVE a little with some projects and ideas here and there. Enjoy.

PS: I also spent a good hour today at my favorite fabric store dreaming about the Christmas stockings I'm planning to make Taylor and me...... And maybe a few extra for our future children so they match when I want them down the road. Premature? Pathetic.

  1. haha Abbey, I love your projects. And I'm totally a planner too, so I'm the same way (like with the stockings). Also, I love that everything you make...you think of others and make something to share. You are one of the most thoughtful people out there! I can learn a lot from you.
